Being as social as they are, dogs are very loyal to their owners and can easily develop behavior problems when their owner is not present. When your dog or puppy has driven you to the end of your tether, just to get some peace and quiet, you will try almost anything. One obvious and popular choice is to use a bark collar.
Dog bark collars are available in many types and configurations. The bark collar is based on negative reinforcement psychology, so when your dog barks, they automatically receive an unpleasant sensation. The aim is to teach your dog that each time it barks, it will have an experience it doesn't like. Sounds simple and effective don't you think? The answer is both yes and no.
To start, each time your dog barks, some bark collars deliver an electric shock. Although this isn't lethal, it's a terrible sensation. I personally would never subject my dog to this type of torture.
While a bark collar may seem like an effective short term solution, it only fixes the surface problem, and not the root cause. 4. Does your dog leap up at friends and family? Resulting in dirty clothes and possible scratched skin!
5. Does your dog growl and get jealous often, or even attack people, including children who would simply like to pet your dog?
